Charlie and Maria were married last Saturday at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Stillwater.  Everything throughout the day was absolutely perfect… I have such a soft spot for these two!!

Maria was absolutely stunning.

Enough Maria yet?  Me neither… here are a couple more photos of the bride! :)

The groomsmen looking rather handsome.

After the ceremony the guests went to the White Bear Yacht Club for cocktail hour.  This is why June is one of my favorite months for weddings…  the weather couldn’t have been any more perfect for an outdoor cocktail hour.  It was warm, just a slight breeze… ahhhh!  :)

While the guests were enjoying some patio time at the Yacht club, I hopped onto a Trolley with the bridal party (It’s times like this I recognize how awesome it is to be a wedding photographer… I get to ride on trolleys and photograph!)  :)   I adore the photo on the right – I caught Maria and Charlie having a sweet moment. :)

Charlie is an avid golfer so we stopped by the golf course before going to the reception.

I pretty much adore this photo – and the color of the bridesmaids dresses and flowers.  So classic and chic!

The decor worked perfectly with the atmosphere of the Yacht club.

A jazz trio!

We stepped outside for some portraits…  the setting was so beautiful!

I wish I could take credit for the photo below – my assistant for the day was my very talented friend Katie!

The photo on the right?  Yeah – the cuteness just oozes from the photo… hahaha  for real, they are this sweet and in love in real life! :)

They danced to a Tom Petty song (their mutual interest in Tom Petty’s music is one of the things that brought them together when first dated).

The neat thing for me – pictured on the right is miss Sara who’s wedding I photographed a couple of years ago, and to the left is Ben – who will be married this August and I am lucky enough to be invited along to his wedding, too! :)  This group really knew how to party on the dance floor. I  had a blast photographing the dance!!!

I just love this photo of Maria on the right – that’s exactly what I like to see from a bride at her wedding dance!

We stepped away from the reception for about 15 minutes around sunset time for a mini-portrait session.  I never require or pressure couples to have to step out from their own reception, but I do say if you can- it’s totally worth it!!  My absolute favorite thing about photography and weddings is a beautiful, happy couple in sunset light.  Playing with natural light is my favorite thing ever – and I was so excited to have this opportunity I was literally jumping up and down and giggling with excitement.  Yep – I’m a total photography geek!  :)

Sure the lighting is pretty in this image, but the authentic happy smiles are what makes this photo great!

… and finally a couple of very meaningful portraits.  This is the very dock where Charlie proposed to Maria.

… and now here they are, husband & wife!

To my friends, Charlie & Maria – thank you thank you thank you for everything.  I’m so excited for you both!

A couple of very important shout-outs –

A big thank you to Marnie with Make It Exceptional…. she was a wonderful wedding planner to work with – the go to gal behind the scenes that made everything go so smoothly!

Cake by the always tasty Buttercream!

  • Tom Ward - you rocked this wedding hardcore! BEAUTIFUL IMAGES and the details are to die for!ReplyCancel

Caitlin & Kevin were married at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.  The day was perfect and relaxed, & Caitlin and Kevin focused the day on celebrating and spending time with their closes friend’s and family.

I always love bold colored shoes!  :)  Her dress had really beautiful detail in the lace and buttons.

… Caitlin is blessed with a wonderful group of bridesmaids.  Putting on a wedding dress is always a team effort! :)

Beeeauuuutiiiful!  :)

It’s about time for Kevin to make an appearance!

These beautiful & vibrant flowers brought to you by Luna Vinca.

The ceremony was held in the way cool hotel dome – overlooking the skyline of Minneapolis.

The nice thing about having a wedding here, is that they got ready, married, had cocktail hour, and reception all in the same place!  The guests walked from the ceremony straight into cocktail hour.  The hors d’oeuvres were really yummy.

Karin (my 2nd photographer) cracks me up…. when she saw the escort cards she said, “I don’t think I’ve seen my name ever written so exquisitely!”

Individual cheesecakes by Buttercream. I could write an entire blog post about these… SO GOOD!

The first dance – I love photos of the guest’s reactions just as much as the first dance photos themselves.  Also below is Morrigan from Restless Collective.  I’m kind of a big fan – she’s a photographer (along with her friend Alan) who travels the world on bike – literally.  Check them out!

A dance with a sunset view. :)

Congratulations Caitlin & Kevin!

Shayla and Steven were married at the always beautiful – St. Paul Hotel.  I adored all of the details – especially the rich color palette of jewel tones throughout this wedding.  The ceremony, reception decor, and flowers were provided by Festivities.

I had trouble cutting down the number of Shayla portraits to post on this blog… she is so stunning and very easy to photograph!  Makeup done by Smart & Chic bride.

The garden in front of the hotel was the perfect spot for a first look moment.  BEAUTIFUL!

It was a beautiful overcast all day long – which made Rice park a great location for some portraits.  I love the view of downtown St. Paul behind the bridal party…  The 2nd image – oh, just Shayla and Steven looking FIERCE!  :)

A candlelit ceremony with plenty of sweet moments.

My worst fear as a photographer is that I’ll be in my “zone” photographing and accidentally back into a candle or something…  thankfully it hasn’t happened to me!

I wish somehow we could actually taste food through the internet.  Or through photographs.  The St. Paul Hotel made some pretty fantastic meals for the reception….  Shayla and Steven are “foodies” so I expected as much!  :)    Also – the rich colors and gold accents integrated perfectly into the hotel atmosphere.

We were all surprised when the DJ announced that Shayla would be singing Etta Jame’s “At Last” to Steven.  I had no idea this was coming, and no idea this girl can sing.  Wowza!

A sweet moment.  Love!

And I’ll end this post with an epic grand finale portrait outside of the hotel.  What I love about Shayla and Steven – is that when they kiss, they kiss like they mean it!  :)  And that, is what it’s all about.  Congratulations you two!!  – Betsy

  • Salwa - Holy GORGEOUS. Beautiful photos, beautiful couple, beautiful wedding!

I especially love the one of the two of them where Steven is facing Shayla and she’s looking at the camera – smokin!!ReplyCancel

  • Karin - Awesome post — great job, friend!ReplyCancel

Terra and John were married on what started as a very rainy day and ended up with beautiful sunshine and great weather!  We started our day getting ready at Salon Avé in Roseville (owned by Terra’s mother & where Terra is a stylist).

A very handsome groom!

Together they make such a sweet and gorgeous looking couple!

The colors were bright pink and yellow – perfect for a May wedding!

The ceremony was emotional – not a dry eye in the house during the vows.

The rain let up for a gorgeous reception at Stone Ridge Golf Club.

Each table had a cake for a centerpiece (and they were delicious cakes by Buttercream!)

Rick & Shooter with Northern Lights knew how to throw a good party!  (Fog machines and everything!!)

Thank you so much Terra and John – I hope you are having the best honeymoon ever!

  • Kelsey Wichelman - Gorgeous couple, beautiful wedding, and as always fabulous pictures!ReplyCancel

Last weekend was Terra & John’s wedding!  They chose to have a Photo Booth which is such a great way to entertain guests, and to get some great personalized photos of your friends and family!
