FAQ

Where are you located?
I am an event and portrait photographer who lives in Rochester and most frequently photographs in the Twin Cities and Rochester area.

You live in Rochester, but my wedding or family session is in the Twin Cities.  Will there be any travel fees?
There are no travel fees for weddings (and engagement sessions included in your wedding collection) that are located in the Twin Cities metro area.  For portrait sessions there are no travel fees if we can schedule our shoot around a time I am scheduled to be in the cities for another event or meetings.  Otherwise standard travel rates from Rochester will apply.

How would you describe your style?
I’m a photojournalist at heart. The easiest way I can describe it is “moment driven photography.” That is, I hope to tell the entire story of your wedding by creating natural, beautiful, and emotional photographs from each part of your important day.  While I believe the people and moments on your wedding day are the most important,  I still love beautiful wedding details!  What makes my approach unique is that while I will photograph every detail, large and small, the majority of our time will be spent photographing the beautiful moments and loved ones that surround you.  My editing style is crisp, vibrant, and true to life. My goal is to create photos that are ultimately about the people and the moment, rather than an overpowering stylistic choice. With this, I hope your wedding photos will be beautiful and modern today, while remaining classic and timeless.

What is Betsy like to work with?
I’m a pretty energetic, easy going person and also a little quirky.  :)  The relationship I have with my clients is what encourages them to be relaxed in front of my camera, so I am able to capture natural smiles and genuine emotion.  I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist and tend to obsess over good customer service – the experience people have while working with me is equally important to the photos we create.

Do we receive the digital images with our collection?
Yes!  All of my collections include full-resolution images with license to reprint for personal use.  If you choose a custom a la carté collection, the files are available as an add-on.  For your convenience I also include a folder of web-ready images sized for easy sharing online.

For weddings do you shoot with a 2nd photographer?
Yes!  In addition to providing you with more coverage and an additional unique perspective, having a 2nd photographer helps the day run more smoothly and efficiently.  It’s important to note that I work with a short list of experienced 2nd photographers capable of providing you with images that meet the quality I expect and you deserve.

Can you hold our wedding date?
Due to the date-sensitive nature of photographing weddings, I am unable to hold a date until an agreement and payment are received.

Couples getting married – what can you expect on our first meeting?
I understand that finding a wedding photographer is a huge investment and decision!  Your choice is influenced by many factors including style, personality, and budget.  When we meet, I want to not only tell you a little more about myself and photography, but I also want to learn about who you are as a couple, your style, and what is most important to you.   I find that when we all share a similar vision and are excited about the same things, the entire process from start to finish is easy, relaxed and fun!

How long does it take to get our images?
The average turnaround time for the full wedding gallery is 3-4 weeks, with an absolute maximum time of 6 weeks.

Are you willing to travel for our wedding?
Absolutely!  I love to travel and always feel inspired when I am photographing in a new place.  If you are considering a destination wedding, I would be happy to provide you with more details.
